Privacy in your game
Updated October 11, 2026. These details describe the current version of You Picked WHAT?!.
Your game room
The game stores room codes, nicknames, selected categories and decks, answers, guesses, scores, readiness, confidence boosts, session wins, explanation requests and shared explanations, typing status, reactions, penalty votes and custom dares, room chat messages and optional prompt status on its server to synchronize play. Room session credentials are stored as hashes on the server. Rooms become inaccessible after six hours; expired room data is cleaned up when new rooms are created. This is not a promise of immediate deletion at the six-hour mark.
Other people in your room can see your nickname, shared game activity and room chat. The latest 50 chat messages are retained in room state until removed or the expired room is cleaned up. You can delete your own messages; the host can delete any message. Messages remain visible to players joining the same room. Secret picks and guesses stay hidden from other players until the reveal. Keep your code private and use a nickname instead of personal contact information.
Camera and microphone
Access is requested when you choose a camera moment. Your preview stays on your device until you tap Share with room. Live camera and microphone data are sent to the other players’ devices using WebRTC. The game does not record or store the media. Other players could use their own screen recording tools, so share only with people you trust.
Temporary connection messages are held on the server. They are available for two minutes and older messages are cleaned up when new rooms are created. WebRTC connection messages may contain network addressing information. The current version uses a Cloudflare connection-discovery service. A configured Cloudflare relay can carry encrypted media between devices.
On your phone
Your current room session is saved in this browser’s session storage so a refresh can reconnect. Leaving a room clears that local session. Your sound preference and first-visit rules/terms acknowledgment are saved in local storage. Clearing browser storage or changing devices can show the introduction again. The game does not add advertising or analytics trackers. Hosting and browser providers may process operational logs and network information under their own policies.
Question-pack purchases
The deck library offers free and paid collections. Stripe handles card entry and payment processing when checkout is available. The game stores a hashed recovery code, purchase and Stripe session identifiers, payment status and purchase time to restore access and handle refunds. Card numbers are not stored by the game. A private, HttpOnly browser cookie remembers your purchase for up to one year. Purchase records are separate from temporary rooms and are retained for ownership and payment support. A refund or dispute can revoke pack access. Keep your recovery code private; anyone with it can restore your pack.
Owner sign-in
The game owner can sign in with ChatGPT for private access to the complete deck catalog. A hash of the approved account’s site-specific identifier is stored in server settings. Sign-in alone does not grant ownership, and regular purchases still use the existing recovery-code system.
Access and controls
Anyone with the app link can open this test version. Joining a room requires its code. The host can remove players; players can leave, skip prompts and close their camera. After Dark requires confirmation of age 18+; Party Mode requires 21+. These confirmations do not verify identity.
There are no subscriptions or permanent player profiles. Purchase recovery is separate from your nickname and game-room session. For privacy or purchase support, email Voicecareconnect@gmail.com. Include only the details needed to identify the issue, never card numbers or recovery codes.
